Well, I think recent data suggests ~90% chance that BA.3.2 will quickly take over and replace the BA.2.86 (Pirola) lineages that dominated for more than 2 years.

50-80% weekly advantage noted in Euorpe in recent months is convincing that it's turned a corner

Safe resource usage is coming to #Scala!

Scala 3.8 is just around the corner (you can test 3.8.0-RC3) - it's a great occasion to try out capture checking. But first, you have to understand how it works - here's my attempt: softwaremill.com/understandin...

🦃 during sbt 2.0.0-RC7 development, I attempted some perf improvement to fix the no-op compilation perf regression that was reported. since RC7 is out, I can finally post 'sudori part 8: no-op compilation performance' (didn't write this on Thanksgiving)

so proud of my lovely vegetarian wife publishing a first-author review on @elife.bsky.social about trained immunity, an emerging branch of immunology studying the memory of innate immune system, mediated by epigenetic and metabolic reprogramming (as opposed to traditional lymphocyte differentiation)
Happy Friday! We're so thrilled to share our review on #trainedimmunity out in @elife.bsky.social today. We had a great time writing this. Honored to be included in the special issue of trained immunity. Always an absolute treat to write with @khannakm.bsky.social

We do an exercise at offsites called Elephants, Tigers & Paper Tigers.
- Elephants are things that the group isn’t talking about but needs to
- Tigers are things threatening the team, risks
- Paper tigers are things that seem like risks, but aren’t

BIOFIRE and WWScan both show the lowest readings since Pirola (BA.2.86*) swept two years ago.

We're in a good lull right now.

What I'm listening to today: "Augmatic Disport", Autechre

Woke up today thinking about this album. "Untilted" fits oddly in Autechre's discography, a 70-minute zerg rush of dense, ever-shifting robot breakbeats. I like this one track's internal narrative arc.

Congratulations to Martin Odersky for receiving the Programming Languages Achievement Award @icfp-conference.bsky.social - well deserved! :)

I can only confirm what it says on the citation, his work deeply impacted how I view programming.

Let's work towards making #Scala a continued success!

is it just me, or the incremental compilation on feels less stable on #Scala 3?

I wrote a blog post to investigate why this could be, and attempted to send a fix for it 'incremental compilation of Scala 3' - eed3si9n.com/incremental-...
