Fall: time of change. Leaves begin to drop, revealing the hard essence. So with trees, so with policies. Underlying authoritarianism, corruption and stupidity begin to show starkly. We need to realize our vulnerability and also our strength.

Sometimes there are actual problems to be solved. Then we select the right tool and get to work, with optimism and realism, and in the process celebrate our strength. This does not only apply to politicians, but also to handymen.

Freedom: it's so precious. Being able to speak freely, not being met by violence, to go where you want to, to not be judged for things beyond your control, freedom from hunger, disease and poverty, being able to vote and be represented without corruption. It's worth celebrating.

This is a draw-bridge: an ancient invention to selectively keep people out. Somehow, after millennia, we are struggling with that. I like it when the bridge is down, and people can cross, but I understand that sometimes we simply have to raise it. It's down today, which I'm celebrating.

Nature is bigger than us. We can thrive as part of it, but only if we understand and respect it. Nature does not care about us. If we mess up, by denying science, by damaging ecosystems, by short-term gains at the expense of future stability, it dishes out the consequences without mercy.

For many it's vacation season, and not much is happening in the world. No genocide, no war, no fascist undermining of judicial and democratic institutions, no deportations, no science denial, no human rights violations. Right? Here's a quick pic on my balcony. I have a body. You too. Habeas corpus.

This photo was shot last week, on the 4th of July, when some people celebrate their independence and freedom. Being free and having your own democratic government is a great good. Policies will benefit the people. The weak will be protected. Everyone has equal rights under the law. Fantastic!

Initially it was the excitement of pushing boundaries. I found it's a great way to show confidence and positivity, and perhaps inspire others. I always feel a connection to nature. I like to tease 'naturists' who disapprove of erections 😀

There can be too much heat. Ongoing war, new war, civil war in the making, and an occasional plane crash. The reflex may be to hide in the shade. This is not bad: we find our confidence, values and strength there. But ultimately we need to face the heat.

Today we celebrate Liberation Day in my country: the end of Nazi occupation 80 years ago. The Nazis eliminated democracy, deported large numbers of people, spread endless false propaganda, and destroyed our economy. This was a long time ago, yet it sounds familiar. Let's celebrate our freedom!

The weather is getting a little warmer, with opportunities for outdoor enjoyment. I particularly love the unexpected photo session. One moment you are riding your bicycle, and then you see a nice location, and suddenly you are naked in front of a camera. Love that kick! I hope you're having fun too.
