October 18, 2025 at 3:29 PM
Got in a learning game of The Barons’s War with Reconquista troops painted mostly by Rob Schmitt, with some basing work and tweaking by me.

Batch of minis for Guards of Traitor’s Toll in progress.
September 5, 2025 at 6:14 AM
Yesterday I painted up the cobblestone mat I made last year and did a layout for Guards of Traitor’s Toll with it. It’s only 2’ x 3’ so I need to do another 1’ x 3’ to fill the table without using something else. Followed techniques from a Black Magic Craft video-rubber mat, caulk, texture roller.

Painting lately for Guards of Traitor’s Toll. This is yesterday’s batch.

Opened up my wet palette for the first time in some months and discovered that while the copper wire had prevented ordinary mold, a yellow slime mold had grown and eaten some of the palette paper.

Another D&D map I drew in the teens. Heavy on the underground river theme.

Came across this map I made about 10 years ago while looking through an old graph paper book. #d&dmaps #oldschooldnd #dungeonmaps

Another episode of my “This Old House” meets “Dark Shadows” Knaves 2 campaign done for the night. Peregrine Sallowfort, inheritor of a ruined manor that happens to have a large dungeon beneath it and his four ne’er-do-well friends continued exploring the second level. Lowish stakes, high weirdness.

Did a first layout of the unfinished steampunk city

Woke up 34 hours into my fast pleasantly warm and not noticeably hungry. Parts of yesterday were rough but this is fine. Was planning to stop at 36 hours but might keep going if it stays like this then.

Woke up crazy early, couldn’t get back to sleep, so got up and put some more paint on this Victorian. It’s coming along.

Low energy, napping is winning over gaming.
April 27, 2025 at 2:32 AM
Put some time in on minis and some on terrain today
April 27, 2025 at 1:22 AM
Steampunk city table in progress, mostly primed. Unprimed black roof in foreground will have the rest of building printed over the next week or so. A few more buildings to print and a lot of painting to do before skirmish gaming commences on it this summer.

Robotics competition action at Berkeley High

Working on smoothing out some misprinted pipes with a mix of sanding and filling until they look good enough to paint them up as corroded to explain the remaining irregularities.

Kind of achy from a trail hike in Tilden yesterday. Was glad we hadn’t turned back and made it shorter yesterday when towards the end along Wildcat Creek we got a brief look at a mountain lion. I saw it looking back before it moved down towards the creek and out of sight. About 100 ft (30 m) away.

Some base work remains to do.
March 29, 2025 at 5:05 PM
There’s nothing like taking a picture of a mini to make you see what’s not finished.
March 29, 2025 at 4:01 AM
Old metal mini getting some paint. Don’t remember who made him. Will have to look at the bottom of the base once I peel him off the painting holder. One of a batch of “big barbaric fantasy Scots”. Maybe Reaper?

Sunday I ran a Pulp Alley Space 1889 game at DunDraCon.

First time my good deed for the day has been turkey herding. Three turkeys blocking traffic in front of our house. Could hear beeping and gobbling so went out to look. With much arm waving and shouting chased them off the street. One went right back out so had to chase that one a second time.
