Pirate Nursing knows a thing or two about simulation (we have the only accredited nursing simulation program in the UNC System) so it’s fitting that we were included in a recent story from UNC Media Hub about advances in nursing simulation and teaching students about workplace violence.

The College of Nursing’s lobby is the one space large enough to accommodate Dr. Andrea Sessom’s birth simulations for the number of students who need to have the experience. During the sim students are involved in patient care decisions and see how a Pirate Nurse Anesthetist places an epidural.

For the first time in more than a dozen years, the College of Nursing was represented during the Homecoming parade with a float, and did our students ever rise to the challenge building a slot machine that honors the nursing profession.
