In the #EuropeanUnion 🇪🇺, adjusting the minimum #cigarette tax by cost of living would ensure a comparable tax burden across countries 🔎

A 🆕 #policy brief from UPCT suggests:

- a fixed rate for 2/3 of the minimum #excise rate &
- an adjustment by living standards for 1/3 of the minimum rate.

-⬇️ una reducción en la prevalencia de consume a 7,6%,
-⬆️ un aumento en los ingresos fiscales en $42,5M...

En #México 🇲🇽, ⬆️ un impuesto específico de 3 pesos/cigarro:

-⬇️ el consumo hasta 44%,
