On this day in 1984 the *original* Sun of the *original* #USL won the first (and only) United Soccer League title by defeating the *original* Houston Dynamo(s) 3-2 in PKs after a 1-1 draw in game 3 of the title series at Lockhart Stadium.

The #USL has announced it has awarded a franchise to USL Eugene. The club will launch a professional men's team in #USLLeagueOne beginning in the 2026 season, with a professional women's team planned to follow.

#FTLUTD takes on Laredo Heat in their opening game of the #USL2 playoffs this Friday at 4PM in Sarasota!
The winner will go on to face the winner of the Sarasota-Jax match that will follow that evening.
The Laredo Heat have a history with Fort Lauderdale, so this is a fun matchup!
