No matter how many times I do it I'm never not surprised by how much even simple shading and highlights start bringing a mini to life

I think at this scale I prefer manual recess shading with a mix or thinned paint vs a wash. It's not a huge difference but I think it's more controllable and defined
(First pic is agrax earth shade wash, second is recess shade with thinned rhinox hide + Abaddon black. One layer each)
