This sounds like a joke or at least an exaggeration, but it's not – with no legal authority to do so, Elon Musk is literally taking over the infrastructure of our government, piece by piece.

Numbers to keep in mind, next time you hear about cutting bloated government:
In 1960, federal employees were 4.3% of all US workers.
In 2024, federal employees were 1.4% of all US workers.
So "government bureaucracy" has already been cut to a fraction of what it was in The Good Old Days.
