On this day in 1960, four black college students staged a sit-in at a whites-only lunch counter at Woolworth’s in Greensboro, NC.

Dr. Patricia Bath (1942-2019) invented the Laser cataract treatment device. In 1988, Dr. Patricia Bath became the first Black doctor to receive a medical patent – for a laser cataract treatment device called Laserphaco Probe. Her invention helped improve the eyesight of millions.
