Man, I wish the libre/onlyoffice writer apps didn't run so poorly. I despise word but I don't feel like I'm fighting the app when writing.

Gotta say I’m a fan of cachyOS. Reduced the potential headache from arch for sure.

Would love to see a mockumentary style series about grad school in a social science program. though every character would be a nihilist incapable of joy

Well I've done it. I have learned some fairly effective HTML and CSS skills instead of making solid progress on my dissertation this summer.

One day I hope to turn my dissertation into a work even half as brilliant as this masterpiece:

@epochphilosophy.com dig the new video! My dissertation is gonna deal a bit with dead labor and hauntology, definitely cool seeing your video touch on a similar space!

Have a love/hate relationship with linux.

Love the lack of MS or Apple bloat (though the former is far more egregious than the latter on the desktop os end of things)

Absolutely despise how difficult it is to find a stable and actually useful open source approach to text editing.

No clue what happened but something screwed my mint install and in the process corrupted multiple drives. Not ideal to lose a bunch of work when in the middle of dissertation proposal prep.

My review of Deena Isom's "Gratuitous Angst in White America" is now available at Crime, Media, Culture. She offers a compelling exploration of the social psychological components of "white criminality." journals.sagepub.com/doi/10.1177/...

The open source community(?) is a weird beast. A mix of privacy consciousness and skepticism directed at large corporations paired with a complete political ineptitude with regards to how politics function. Generally promoting good practices but often in a way that misses the bigger picture.

It just doesn't feel like Fable without Molyneux making outlandish promises that can never be delivered.

Added a nostalgia/hauntology section to my intro course this year. We'll see how it goes. While hauntology might be a bit abstract for the students, touching on nostalgia might prove engaging to students (not to mention gesturing to its role in contemporary politics)

Found in my time teaching that students tend to appreciate worksheets that get them out into the world (and as a sociologist that's what I should be doing anyway). Still altering, but this should be a fun exercise for my students.
