My husband and I went for a walk around the neighborhood and a chunk of bread fell from the sky and hit me in the chest. I’m guessing a bird must have dropped it because we weren’t in immediate proximity to any people or buildings. I don’t know what this portends for my 2026.

I’m not much for resolutions. The last time I set a goal was to do 20 new things in 2020 and that set off a global pandemic to stop that in its tracks. But this year I’ve decided to make my resolution visiting every book store in Baltimore. Time to make a list.

We had friends stay over last night. I’m making us waffles while everyone else is discussing what enters the public domain today.

2025 had a lot of terrible in it. Far too many deaths of people I know in the first quarter bookended by health issues that are really messing me up physically and mentally plus the weight of everything going on in the world. But when I think back on the year I mostly come up with a lot of good.

Have baked a Russian Sharlotka in lieu of an actual cake for my husband’s birthday since I can eat it. Made home made hummus since I can’t eat store bought. Friend is bringing a me friendly entree. Still need to make a salad and vacuum but almost ready for New Year’s Eve.

I just remembered 2026 is an election year. As if next year wasn't already primed to be completely awful, we have to throw that on top of it. Can't we just skip to 2031?

This site would be a whole lot less toxic if everyone made their New Year’s resolution to not share screenshots of stuff from other sites or of accounts here that they don’t want to platform. If you can’t or don’t want to directly quote post it let it go. We’ll all be better for it.

Husband's xmas gift to me was theoretical (because he didn't actually buy them) tickets to see Brandi Carlile in Philly. I'm glad because I already nixed that show since it's a weeknight 3 days before we leave the country. Trying to convince him to replace with a fall European date isn't working.
