Love old films and music. Classic (and not so classic).

Given the state of things, I have to take joy from the little things. Therefore, I'm happy to see that my favorite 007 score (and my favorite Bond film) is being released in an expanded form.
.. it goes without saying that composer John Barry is a legend.

#NoirvemberChallenge (Day 11: Favorite bar scene or cocktail in a #FilmNoir)
So many, but I'll go with THE BREAKING POINT as Lucy Morgan (Phyllis Thaxter) refuses to concede to the femme fatale (Patrica Neal's Leona Charles) - and proves she can hold her liquor with the best of them. 👏🧐

#NoirvemberChallenge (Day 10: Favorite Gloria Grahame #filmnoir)
“In A Lonely Place” is the better film, but her performance as Debby Marsh in #TheBigHeat was quintessential - sexy, playful yet tough. ❤️

#NoirvemberChallenge (Day 9: Fav Dan Duryea #Filmnoir)
"Scarlett Street"
Duryea is so deliciously over the top.
"Can't you get those Lazy Legs off that couch, baby?"
PS: And in this case, he is correct. Oscar Madison has nothing on Kitty "Lazy Legs" March (Joan Bennett). She is a slob.

#TheLetter is among my favorites - so atmospheric.
Thanks everyone for today's #NoirAlley "twin-bill" and have a great rest of your weekend.

"Do you love me?"
"Yes I do. No, No, No, I still love the man I killed."
This isn't quite the response that Robert wanted to hear. But at-least Leslie is honest.

IIRC, #TheLetter was one of the first films that I saw on #NoirAlley. If film noir has a "supernational" sub-group this, is it IMO.

The mere mention of the lovely Lee Remick 😍 sent me googling. It was a 1982 made for TV movie and according to wiki, Remick was nominated for the Golden Globe Award for Best Actress. I don't remember it, but her version is on Youtube.

And now I know where I've seen her before ....
.... she was in the 1954 sci-fi "classic" "GOG". Which (according to wiki) was Ms. Dowling's final feature film.

Nice use of *threatening tones* with the "Miss Green" into office scene. Somehow, I think Mr. Smalls wanted to do more than dictate a letter. Quite effective.

According to imdb #BlindSpot contains several references to "The Lost Weekend" so it should be interesting.

Good morning fellow noir film fans.
Today’s film #Blindspot - seems to be a short one (<75 minutes), and other than Martin Goldsmith (screenplay) I know nothing about it.

Catching the tail end of #PrideAndPrejudice reminds me that I must re-watch it. That is quite the cast - Laurence Olivier and Meryl Streep (I mean Greer Garson 🧐 ).
I know. That is an old joke.

#NoirvemberChallenge (day 8: Favorite line)
“I was born when she kissed me. I died when she left me. I lived a few weeks while she loved me.”
Perhaps no other line better sums up the fatalistic nature of film noir. It also inspired a great 80s ballad.

#NoirvemberChallenge (Day 6: Coolest Film Noir Character)
A tie:
a) Bogart’s Philip Marlowe (THE BIG SLEEP)
"Such a lot of guns around town and so few brains!"

b) Alain Delon’s Jef Costello (LE SAMOURAI)
“Nothing to say?” / “Not with a gun on me.” /
“Is that a principle?” / “A habit.”

#NoirvemberChallenge (Day 5: Favorite Film to Show a Newbie) It alternates with “Out Of the Past”, but for today I’ll go with DOUBLE INDMNITY. The "core" tropes are all here and due to the numerous parodies and homages to it over the decades it may be easier for a newbie to get into.

#NoirvemberChallenge (day 4/Film Noir Ahead of its Time)
IN A LONELY PLACE (1950). The theme of male/female relationships, the need for control and our capacity for violence is just as relevant today as it was 75 years ago.
