My daughter graduated with her bachelors in microbiology/biochemistry from OSU last night. At the ceremony, Oklahoma speaker of the house Kyle Hilbert gave a commencement speech in which he told all the graduates that the most important thing they could do was to make babies. It was so gross.

He wore the cheesehead hat in WI. Spent $20 million. Paid people to sign petitions. Paid people to canvas. Did million dollar giveaways. A rally. TV interviews. But I guess people in Wisconsin didn’t appreciate an oligarch trying to buy their civil liberties.

I used to think that all those dystopian science fiction novels I read portrayed the collapse of stable society into an authoritarian nightmare much more quickly than it would actually happen. I stand corrected.
