Just a heads up that I've made a secondary Dualschocks and Daydreams account simply for posting links to articles and videos made. Will keep this post pinned.

With '100 Million BC' (2008) comes my first, I can't even say B-movie, of the year.

Some questionable acting and dialogue (CGI didn't fuss me, I'm a Doctor Who child).

Big fan of the (briefly) practical velociraptor, and the cave people outfits.

First half was interesting, second lost me.

'Howl' (2024) was brilliant.

This coming from someone who can find turned-based games hit or miss. This was a hit.

In part thanks to the tapestry-style animation and the beautiful soundtrack. I was a huge fan of both.

If medieval society made videogames, they'd probably have dug this.

'Percy Jackson: Wrath of the Triple Goddess' (2024) may well be one of my favourite entries.

Just a Mythology-packed adventure featuring everyone's favourite demigods and their faitful Satyr friend.

Huge fan of how Rick Riordan weaves Greek history into the modern day, and this was no exception.

'The Sarah Jane Adventures' (S3) (2009) is another solid series for the Whoniverse spin-off.

I liked that we got to see more Whoniverse aliens, and that we got to see new ones too.

I don't know how to explain it, but this sometimes feels more sci-fi and with darker undertones than DW itself.

'Marvel Superheroes: Secret Wars' (2015) was solid novelisation that goes into great detail in some parts.

I enjoyed it and was figuring out how the MCU could adapt it. Honestly, I think there's hope.

I've seen Paddington adjust to London life and it was perfect.

Thanks to 'Paddington in Peru' (2024) I've now seen Paddington reaquaint himself with Peru, and it was also perfect.

I have no doubt I could watch Paddingtons adventures across the globe and they would all be perfect.

Some say it's a shallow film, but I found 'Forrest Gump' (1994) heartwarming and charming.

I liked how they superimposed Forrest into real historical footage.

Even though his life seems completely random, none of it seemed like it was just thrown in there to be like "look what he did this time".

'The Great Train Robbery' (1903) will be soon be 123 years old. Magical.

How far cinema has come. Please never let cinema and filmmaking die.

Huge fan of the "dead" train worker who was fidgeting all over the place, and a later victim who turned into a rag doll and was flung from the top off.

The message of 'Sitara: Let Girls Dream' (2020) is an important one.

Far be it from me to judge other cultures unfairly, but arranged marriages (PARTICULARLY when children are involved) are creepy and simply not on.

I've also seen other films without dialogue, but it didn't quite work for me here.

Was a delight to rewatch 'Robin Hood S1' (2006). I always remember this, 'Doctor Who', and 'Merlin' would alternate and all three were childhood favourites.

Glad to see it still seems to hold up.

'The Spongebob Movie: Search for SquarePants' (2025) was a silly, billy film. Made me chuckle, and sometimes that's all you want.

Quite impressive that Spongebob seems to have stayed largely the same decades later.

Big fan of the Big Guy pants songs.

'The War Between the Land and the Sea' (2025) finale felt like a bit of a flop, but the first couple of episodes were decent courtroom drama.

Messages about the environment and other themes.

Perfectly fine, not terrible, nothing outstanding.

Kate Stewart's character absolutely baffles me.

'Paddington' (2014) is such a lovely, cosy film. Makes you feel snug and safe.

Paddington is so innocent and good-hearted.

Spectacular cast.

'Artemis Fowl and the Arctic Incident' (2002)

Didn't quite feel as magical as the first (no pun intended) but the fairy lore was still rad.

Well-written and good characterisation (especially Artemis).

Wasn't hugely fond of 'The Matrix: Revolutions' (2003)

They really should have just left it at the first.

Still, the slo mo fights were pretty cool again. And AGAIN- Morpheus is the G.O.A.T

'The Matrix Reloaded' (2003) proves the first film could have been a one and done affair.

As convoluted or nonsensical (even for these films) as it gets, the slo-mo was funky and some of the cinematography was fantastic. Great performances all around.

Morpheus remains the G.O.A.T.

'The Hunger Games: Catching Fire' (2009) is not quite a rehash of the first, there's enough difference to say it's definitely it's own thing and you can see how the gap between the first and third is bridged.

Think the variety of characters and writing is still decent.

I like the water aspects.

Had a good giggle at 'Strays' (2023), I can't deny that. It was a silly billy film, but it's meant to make you laugh and the quips did just that.

I actually found parts quite emotional too. Big message about toxic relationships.

And yeah- fuck you Doug.

I can't neccesarily hold 'Five Nights at Freddy's 2' (2025) accountable for one of my worst cinema experiences.

What I can hold the film accountable for is just being a bit boring and also completely nonsensical at times.

However, the practical animatronics were rad!

'Men in Black' (1997) is magnificent.

Everything about the film works for me. The humour, the tone, the cinematography, the cast, the score, the practical effects (and the CGI to be fair), the script. All spectacular.

No more to say. Bloody brilliant.

'21 Jump Street' (2012) is brlliant comedy.

Always been a big Tatum fan, and even Hill (who I don't always find to my liking) made me chuckle too. Ice Cube is as you'd expect, rest of the cast were decent too.

Humour worked for me and still works to this day.

'Mission Impossible 3' (2006) is for sure my favourite of the first three, likely for the same reasons many others note.

Way more coherent than some of the nonsense from the previous two. Way less stupid slo-mo and repeat shots. Still an absurd amount of fake faces.

Tom Cruise still unnerves me.
December 1, 2025 at 9:13 AM
I don't think even the child version of me would have found 'Mission Impossible 2' (2000) cool.

It's tonally baffling, at times feeling like a parody, Tom Cruise simply unnerves me, and the cinematography and editing was ludicrous.

Luther is awesome as always.

I'll be honest, I don't think the spy business is for me, all the double crossing is very confusing.

Anyway, 'Mission Impossible' (1996) is shot and edited well, and the writing is solid. However, I can't really fault most of what goes on, it just feels "fine" to me.

Tom Cruise unnerves me.

At the start of 'Terminator: Resistance Enhanced' (2023) I was worried about not being able to take down a T-800.

However, come the end when I was a laser-spewing, Terminator-killing machine (but still human) I was having a most wonderful power trip.

Switched my brain off and had a blast.
