Will D.C. end up footing the costs for SNAP food benefits should federal funding lapse this weekend? @cmfrumin.bsky.social tells me a decision from @mayorbowser.dc.gov should come by tomorrow.
NEWS: D.C. is joining 22 other states in suing the Trump administration over its decision to not tap contingency funds to cover SNAP benefits for November. Funding for SNAP will lapse this weekend because of the shutdown, and in D.C. almost 140,000 residents could be impacted.

The best sign language models are those that align with deaf languaging practices. When AI models are built on sign language as used by hearing interpreters or novice hearing sign language learners, this can lead to linguistic subordination to technology.
