Absolutely correct. Interest, passion, and willingness to improve are vastly more valuable than years of experience, degrees, or certs.

once upon a time, I was very active on bird-site.
I felt connected to the infosec community (among others), and made connections that have lasted to this day.
But life, work, and the disintegration of much of that community took a toll.
I'm hoping to find my people here on Bluesky.
