Unfortunately, mental health has historically been misunderstood or stigmatized, leading to less prioritization in healthcare. And this stigma persists. Fortunately, most physicians recognize that mental illness has a biological base and is equally important.

The concept of “sleepmaxxing” is all over TikTok. It can include extreme measures, such as drinking a magnesium cocktail before bed or using a nasal dilator to “perfect” your breathing.

Not only are these strategies potentially unsafe for some people, experts say, but they’re most likely useless.
