When people say both threads and processes are the same for Linux, i think it causes misinterpretation. Yes technically both are treated the same way by the kernel and they are represented as tasks, the flags passed to the clone() function creates the difference that we know in practice.

How does this one make sense in the kernel can someone explain? They acknowledge the risk of race condition, what is the reasoning here?
