Today marks a special milestone - five years since Lone Star College-Houston North Fallbrook opened its doors. In celebration, I was joined by our basketball team at Fallbrook Church to present Pastor Mike Pender with a framed jersey, honoring our partnership and thanking him for his vision.

The fourth cohort of our Non-Profit Impact Project launched today! This six-week program pairs non-profits with expert mentors and provides organizational training from our Business faculty, community leaders, and college personnel.

My family and I are having a lot of fun today.
My whole left side hurts, but it is worth it. Of course I told my kids how I would walk ten miles to school in this weather without any shoes.

Congratulations to Congressman Sylvester Turner on today's ceremonial swearing-in at Houston's historic Mickey Leland Federal Building. My family and I enjoyed hearing his inspiring vision for the 18th Congressional District.

I just saw a movie where an older man started a mentorship of a young man by asking three questions:

Where do you want to be in the next year?

What type of man do you want to be?

What do you want people to think when they see you coming?

Mentors are difference makers.

We are thrilled to announce a $150,000 grant to expand Lone Star College's systemwide student emergency aid program. Students can receive up to $500 for urgent expenses like utilities, car repairs, and rent.

Each year, I place a message about study tips in the student newsletter during finals week. This year, my creative team took a few of the tips and placed them in a reel.

I do not want to seem insensitive to the hardworking college players, but as a fan, I love the college football rankings process. I appreciate the objectivity of the NFL, but I love the “every game counts” culture of college football—even if everyone does not agree with how the games count.

What an incredible milestone! Today we marked our campus's 5-year anniversary with a celebration that brought together our entire campus family. As I reflected on our journey and shared our vision for the future, I was reminded of just how far we've come.
