Hi - I’m a pediatric pulmonologist in Dallas with a strong interest in asthma, the environment and health disparities but I also adore BPD/chronic ventilation and cystic fibrosis. I am currently working on some community based research on environmental health and lung function in Dallas.

Blue Cross Blue Shield of Texas is no longer covering SMART for asthma. It literally saved me when I had the crud for the past 3 weeks. I guess they rather pay for my ED visit next time.

Have you ever tried every trick in the book before using your rescue/controller because you only have 10 puffs left and you are on vacation in a foreign country. Ummm yeah. Hoping the farmacia has something. Btw - it’s all exercise induced this trip.

It would be great if insurance companies recognized that not all children and adults can tolerate DPIs. We need at least SOME MDIs of all doses of ICS and ICS/LABA covered.

Academic question - if you work in the community, do you ask for letters from community leaders to put in your promotions packet? Does it even matter for promotion. I do the work because I love it but learning to make it count twice is helpful.

I’m really proud to be a part of this effort as a member of City of Dallas Environmental Health Committee with the Office of Environmental Quality and Sustainability office and many others to improve the air we breathe in Dallas.
