So many of the central identity markers of these groups, like categorical opposition to abortion, have no real scriptural basis, requiring ludicrous hermeneutical gymnastics to rationalize the later doctrine, while clear & explicit commands about treatment of aliens seem easily sloughed off.
A majority of white Catholics and white evangelicals support deporting undocumented immigrants to foreign prisons with no due process.

The Deport Dreamers Act aka the Laken Riley Act (S.5) was amended by the Senate and then it passed. Because it was amended it goes back to the House for a vote. It's likely to be voted on this week or early next week.
