It was an HONOR to give the 1st lecture for the Doerr Center for Civic Engagement last week at HastingsCollege! It was titled “The Long Lost Cause: St. Augustine’s Confederate Monument and the Consequences of Historical Dishonesty,” & the response was tremendous!

robert f. kennedy jr. submits his application to harvard university. his application is, in its entirety, a single page with his name "Robert F. Kennedy Jr."

he is accepted immediately.

I LOVE working with teachers & NCHE offers invaluable programs (like Advancing Civil Rights Education). Federal grants support 80% of their work, & the freeze has caused absolute uncertainty/panic regarding their future. SUPPORT OUR TEACHERS - call your congressperson!!!

Almost 10% of teachers left their jobs. Admin “alarmed” by numbers who left the industry. And it was a LOWER percentage than last year.

Ron DeSantis & Manny Diaz continue to have an impact on public education in the #FreeStateofFlorida!

America did a lot of terrible stuff to Dr. King, like jailing and abusing him and trying to get him to kill himself and killing him, but probably nothing so obscene as reinventing him in popular memory as some milquetoast whose primary concern was not hurting white people’s feelings.

I knew Iowa was going to be a bloodbath when I learned DeSantis had more campaign appearances than Haley and TFG combined. Turns out you have to be somewhat personable to do well in politics & the more you see of that uncharismatic dolt, the less likable he is.

The FL Attorney General & Commissioner of Education have declared that public school libraries should only promote “government speech.” Here, books are tolerable only when they tell a story that Dear Governor & his sycophants approve.

They publicly claim teachers are “groomers,” but the call is coming from inside of the house. Just like the totalitarians Moms4Liberty support, every allegation is, in fact, a confession.

I won't continually scream re: DJT's fascist threats.

If we all do, it will become background noise.
That would be devastating & deadly.

BUT I'll analyze it, highlight it, give historical context, & more.

Honestly, folks.
We're in a struggle to preserve democracy.
Please join me in pushing back.

Florida HB 395 will punish cities/local leader for removing Confederate monuments. The most insidious part?

It retroactively applies to “monuments or memorials that have been removed, damaged, or destroyed on or after January 1, 2017.”
Florida bill aims to punish cities for removing Confederate monuments
A proposed bill in the Florida House of Representatives would punish cities for removing historical monuments and memorials, even if the removal happened five years ago.
