Well done @dralexhay.bsky.social from @manmetuni.bsky.social ‬ on receiving #NTFS2025. Alex’s work in creating inclusive learning environments and championing education-focused colleagues is making a real difference in higher education.

So lovely to come back off leave and see that our Manchester Met colleagues have secured 2 NTFS and 1 CATE award. Supporting these colleagues from within @manmetuta.bsky.social (formally as TEAL until December 2024) has been a real privilege and they are worthy winners.
👏 Congratulations to the 61 new National Teaching Fellows and 17 CATE-winning teams — recognised for their outstanding contributions to teaching excellence across UK higher education.

Received notificaiton that subject to some minor revisions a journal paper of mine had been accepted. The really great thing though is that both anonymous reviewers gave kind, measured and really constructive feedback about the paper - academic publications can be a kind process too!

I was in a fab teaching obs this week where discussions were around the language of 'eco-friendly' marketing and it struck me how, in order to change anything in the world, we probably need to label the other side too. Eco-harmful and cruelty-full (that one's rubbish) labels needed. Just a thought.

Fascinating research emerging confirming what we all know: www.bbc.co.uk/news/science... Question is, will anything change?
Veg diet plus re-wilding gives 'double climate dividend'
Switching to a plant-rich diet and using land freed up for nature is 'double whammy', experts say.

Academic life has its ups and downs. Yesterday was one of those rare days when I was able to work on some #SoTL publications and write so freely, that I got so much done. Today, I woke up feeling like I don't know what words even are! Does anyone else struggle with 'maintaining' an academic flow?

While the success of our SFHEA dialogue scheme at Man Met is awesome, the numbers this term have been tiring at times. However, today we got to do such an inspirational dialogue with a colleague doing extraordinary work - a genuine joy. A lovely way to round out my day.

A vegan Thanksgiving meal emits only 1.5 kg of CO2e per portion—nearly 70% less than an omnivorous meal. Choosing plant-based options like tofurkey and dairy-free dishes significantly reduces your carbon footprint, showing respect to both animals and the planet.
