In conclusion:

My Grey Cup chili was 10/10.

I did not win on any of my Grey Cup tickets.

Just a guy on his way to curl at the granite in front of an ocean of surface parking that is empty virtually every weekend and evening and hoping adults can figure out how to share.

“Social Housing Rocks” curling sweater by cousin Barb.

Cancelled my Globe subscription because I barely was reading it and one thing I love is when newspapers (or other services) make you phone and talk to someone for 10 minutes to cancel a subscription that you can sign up for online in 10 seconds.

Modern video games:

Here is a tutorial on how to fight

Now here is 75 minutes of animated story exposition you can’t skip so that by the time you have to fight anything you’ve forgotten how to fight

In the spirit of welcoming our neighbours here is a tip on speaking Saskatchewanese. Their provincial government calls lunch dinner and dinner supper.

(I know this is common in parts of Manitoba too - my grandparents did the same thing).

Finally wrapped up all the estate stuff today. 18 months later for a relatively uncomplicated estate. Anyway playing solitaire with a glass of rye at the cottage. Mom would approve.

My cousin texted me to say she wants to give me a cribbage board that my great grandfather made as a cottage warming present and I did not otherwise know such a thing existed but obviously this is a top 10 lifetime gift.

Wherein the National Post discovers that the PM likes Canadian art. The horror!

nationalpost.com/news/here-is...
Mark Carney has borrowed 48 valuable artworks since taking office
The art enthusiast has been busy picking nearly 50 pieces by Canadian artists for his office, his official residence and Parliament.

Re: Carney’s major projects list.

Is the PMO aware that “significant” does not necessarily mean “good”?

Still pretty good for downtown considering all the light pollution

We bought a cottage at Grand Marais and took possession this weekend

My car window got smashed at 1pm today while it was sitting on the mechanic’s lot after getting winter tires put on. Nothing stolen. No one hurt. Just an angry person with a hammer smashing things for kicks. But now I have hours of police reports, insurance claims and repairs to deal with (sigh).

Oof the St Boniface stench is at 11 today and drifting into the east exchange
November 6, 2025 at 3:31 PM
I may have been prescient because attending the Jets game on the weekend required me to transfer my tickets from the ticketmaster app to the Jets app (sigh).
Me in the early smartphone era:

OMG apps are so fun! There’s one that makes a candle on your phone! Download all the apps!

Me, today:

I swear to God if you make me download your app to use your service I will cancel you forever.

I dunno if Mamdani will be any good as mayor but he is a brilliant charismatic communicator who isn’t smothered in decades of Stench from the kind of scandals that turn people off from politics so if he has a few smart policy people around him maybe that’ll work out.

EXPLORING PARTICIPATION IN EUROVISION ?!? Give a raise to whatever queer staffer snuck that one in there.

Are any of the numerous “the Blue Jays World Series Run united Canada” columns I see written by someone living West of Thunder Bay?

Like I know there are lots of Jays fans in the west but the “we’re all united now” schtick seems peculiar to central Canada
November 3, 2025 at 7:14 PM
Kinda unfair the Dodgers have the best pitcher in the universe if you ask me.
November 2, 2025 at 4:29 AM
Yamamoto is the final boss the Jays just couldn’t beat.

It seems impossible and yet my cold Manitoba heart somehow feels a bit of sympathy for Toronto.
