The Wages of Fear is excellent! The first part is kind of excruciatingly dull, but that's necessary to set up the intense ennui these trapped men suffer that leads them to take on the job they accept. Then the tension mounts like nothing I've ever seen before.

Sign reads: This Great Lakes coastal resiliency and habitat restoration project is being implemented by the City of Marquette in cooperation with the Superior Watershed Partnership (SWP). When completed the project will provide safe public access to this section of Lake Superior coastline for the first time in almost a century. In addition, the project will provide over 20 acres of restored dunes, coastal wetlands and other types of native habitats. The Keweenaw Bay Indian Community (KBIC) recommended species of native plants, shrubs and trees for the site. The site will also provide new hiking trails and viewing platforms. The SWP Provided partial funding in the amount of $2.5 million grant secured through the National Coastal Resiliency Program funded through the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation (NFWF) and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA). The City of Marquette is providing project match and engineering oversight. The SWP Great Lakes Climate Corps (GLCC) will assist with native plantings, habitat restoration and some trail development.

This is a pretty compelling read. So much as changed since TX implemented the 10% rule. I hope other states in a post-affirmative action world note the lessons learned about pairing admission changes with a robust support system for low-income and first-generation students.

Hei tiki are customary forms of Māori body adornment that often refer to one's kin, passed or living. Their cord allows the taonga, or treasure, to remain literally and metaphorically close to the wearer's heart. Born in Otautahi Christchurch and raised in Taranaki along the Waiongana River, Rangi Kipa is a carver, sculptor and ta moko (tattoo) artist who explores the whakapapa (genealogy) of customary Māori adornment and taonga. Made out of whale tooth, Hei Tiki, 2015 directly references the traditional materials of Māori adornment.
