The Wages of Fear is excellent! The first part is kind of excruciatingly dull, but that's necessary to set up the intense ennui these trapped men suffer that leads them to take on the job they accept. Then the tension mounts like nothing I've ever seen before.

This is a pretty compelling read. So much as changed since TX implemented the 10% rule. I hope other states in a post-affirmative action world note the lessons learned about pairing admission changes with a robust support system for low-income and first-generation students.
