A poignant protest for Palestine at Hiroshima's Atomic Bomb Dome, a powerful reminder of 1945's devastation. From Hiroshima to Gaza, the echo of war crimes rings 80 years apart.

Hoi An in Vietnam. Once a busy international trading port in the 16th and 17th centuries, attracting merchants from Japan, China, and Europe. At night, the streets and river come alive with lanterns.

Lan Ha Bay in Vietnam. If you’re visiting Vietnam, skip the famous but crowded Ha Long Bay and come here instead. It’s far more peaceful and beautiful 😍

Christchurch city was badly damaged by a series of earthquakes in 2011. Over the last 15 years, there’s been a massive rebuilding program and construction work continues to this day.

Incredible pictures. It really gives you a sense of the scale of the damage. I hope you’ll get the chance to revisit Christchurch some day 🙂

I can only imagine. The high % of new buildings in the city gave me a sense of the scale of the damage. Here’s a few drone shots around the city centre so you can compare with 2012:

It’s such a sad sight. The cathedral is at the heart of the city and, in a way, that heart has stopped. It detracts from the wonderful (re)construction that’s happened everywhere else in the city over the last ~15 years.

Christchurch Cathedral, New Zealand. Built in the late 19th century and badly damaged in the 2011 earthquake. The original plan to demolish the cathedral was scrapped in favour of restoration. However funding problems meant the cathedral was mothballed in 2024.
