Redoing my intro. Howdy! Southern US gal with multiple chronic illnesses and plenty of hobbies that range from nature photography, to drawing, to jewelry making and taxidermy! Activity is sporadic due to health but I try to post and engage with others whenever I can. Commission and shop info below.
*Sigh* It's bad enough that I already often don't feel like working on stuff. But then I have to frequently deal with war breaking out in the household, ensuring my nerves are shot and killing any interest or focus I may have had. Sorry to rant. I just see no end to this mess and wish I could escape

Boat-tailed Grackle (Quiscalus major) singing his song! It's not a pretty song...Honestly I find grackles' high-pitched and raspy voices to be grating and annoying. But they have charisma and look glamorous! #birds #wildlifephotography #naturephotography #wildlife #nature #photography

This Tricolored Heron (Egretta tricolor) was just to the left of the Green Heron. Photographed at the same time but I do like this picture more. #birds #wildlifephotography #naturephotography #wildlife #nature #photography

Green Heron (Butorides virescens). The bright morning sun really blew out the highlights in this one and it took heavy editing to fix it. I'm still not sure if I like the end result or not. But hey, 'tis a bird. #birds #wildlifephotography #naturephotography #animals #wildlife #nature #photography

After getting pulled out of the deep hole my truck tire found, I continued to the marsh to give my new lens a proper field test since I finished calibrating it, hoping to see...

Im stuck on the side of the road, waiting to be rescued. At least there's cows. Ignore the window smudges...perks of having a dog ride with you often

Black-and-white Warbler (Mniotilta varia) creeping around the tree trunk. I'm finding out that my big new lens does not perform well in poor lighting. Something about the f-stop and longer focal length needing higher apertures, I think. I don't shoot in low light often anyway but was hoping to more.

A juvenile grackle already mastering the art of fishing, a pair of young gallinules, and a snowy egret with its dragonfly catch.

A baby Alligator Snapping Turtle (Macrochelys temminckii) in the middle of the road at the marsh. It kept crawling right to me and I thought I was special! Turns out, it was just determined to reach the water and didn't care if it had to go through me to get there, ha ha. #herps #wildlifephotography

This is a very old photo, but the one due for tonight reminded me of it, so here it is again. A Florida Softshell Turtle (Apalone ferox) hatchling that somehow ended up in my yard although I'm quite a distance from the nearest pond. I did release it at the pond, though. #herps #wildlifephotography

Here's a species I occasionally see (and frequently hear) at the marsh but hadn't had the fortune of photographing until this past June, the Black-bellied Whistling Duck (Dendrocygna autumnalis)! Unmistakable for a number of features, but their bright bills perhaps most of all. #birds #wildlife

"Praise the sun!" No, Pine hasn't begun to worship a solar deity. He's just enjoying a sunbath! Many birds sunbathe, fluffing up their feathers and spreading their wings to expose parasites, and look adorably goofy in the process. #birds #wildlifephotography #naturephotography #animals #crows

Next set of prints arrived! Figured my Galaxy Stag was a good candidate for CatPrint's holographic finish. These are stunning! I've had a few different artworks #catprinted and been very happy each time with the colors, clarity, prices, and friendly team willing to help through the whole process.

Lookie what I found! Not a snake but a really cool legless - AKA glass - lizard! Haven't seen one of these since I was a kid, and never any so big. This one was chonky and a respectable 16" long, 'though I understand they get even bigger.

Boat-tailed Grackle (Quiscalus major) at the marsh. Again, in June last year. The females of the species are a mix of browns unlike the iridescent black males. But this one I'm thinking was either molting or a juvenile, given her bob tail and rough feathers. #birds #wildlifephotography #nature
