I'm reading James Cone's memoir and... whew. Where was this book when I was in grad school??

Would your goals be happy with how you spent your time today?

One of my graduate fellows became a candidate last week from a hospital bed. Hours before giving birth, she was still sending emails, rescheduling meetings, and sending apologies for the inconvenience as if her life was not quite literally on the line. I want more for Black women. That's it.

So I defended my dissertation the morning of Election Day. Was it intentional? Not really (but God). Despite the challenges in the journey, there was SO MUCH LOVE present in my defense and if but only for just a moment...I believed in the better future that was on the table coming to pass.

This may not age well, but at this current moment, I LOVE everything that Sac State is doing!!

I'm not seeing enough James Cone referenced during this time. His work is so relevant all these years later and demonstrates just how cyclical society can be.

First #ASHE24 is in the books, just a couple of weeks after defending! Can't wait to do it again in Denver next year.
