MAMAWO PAYIWAK, organized by the Edmonton Aboriginal Seniors Centre (EASC), was a two-day event leading up to the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation in 2024 that featured a pipe ceremony, dancers, singers and drummers, open-fire cooking, ceremonial feasts, storytelling, and more.

With the support of the Reconciliation Action Grant, the West Flat Citizens Group Inc. provided a land-based learning experience focused on traditional medicines (sage, cedar, sweetgrass, tobacco) for local youth called the Medicine Teaching Project.

This year, we announced that Canadian Tire Corporation is now supporting The Blanket Fund, building on its partnership with the Gord Downie & Chanie Wenjack Fund.  Since 2022, The Blanket Fund has redirected all Hudson’s Bay Point Blanket proceeds back to Indigenous projects and communities.

"For Secret Path week- the students were introduced to the songs from the Secret Path and learned about the history of Gord and Chanie by the "Legacy Keepers". The Legacy Keepers also designed the display case."
