Noises Off: A Masterclass in Farce Comedy – New Wolsey Theatre Review
Photo Credit: Craig Fuller Photography Farce is never easy to do, and a farce within a farce is even harder to do. With that in mind, this production of the farce within a farce, Noises Off, is off the scale brilliant on so many levels. We see behind the scenes of a touring theatre company putting on the farce Nothing's On and meet them at the dress rehearsal or is it the tech? No one seems to know, as lines, props and plates of sardines come and go. Photo Credit: Craig Fuller Photography …

New Wolsey Theatre’s Hare and Tortoise Brings the Magic of Theatre to Suffolk Schools
Photo Credit: Will Green Photography Blossom Timothy & Janna May Hare and Tortoise, Brendan Murray’s joyful adaptation of Aesop’s fable with live music, created by a professional team of theatre makers and actors from the New Wolsey Theatre in Ipswich, is kicking off a Spring tour of primary schools this month. The production, for young people aged 4-8 years, tells the tale of two competing friends, exploring themes linked to the national curriculum including the changing seasons, the passing of time, and the importance of friendship. It will tour for three and a half weeks across Suffolk and Essex, travelling over 630 miles and visiting 23 schools.

This smells like more cultural vandalism from SCC. Suffolk Libraries is nationally recognised for its pioneering engagement programmes - radically transforming what a library provides. Can't see local government having the same radical values.

Appalled by the removal of diversity and inclusion programmes in the US, especially on 80th anniversary of Auschwitz's liberation. Love and solidarity go out to our community across the Atlantic and to those here at home, like myself, who are alarmed by the targeting of minorities.

This year started with a bang—the wrong kind—with Suffolk County Council’s announcement of a 100% cut to culture funding. It was a blow, but we didn’t back down. A full-on, joined-up campaign couldn’t get core funding restored, but we kept the council at the table.
