Had our last dnd session of the year back on Tuesday. It definitely ended with a bang, though not in the way anyone expected.
The party had just finished clearing a room of baddies, and there was a chest in the corner of the room.

Before I start writing, I ask myself: What do I want the party to have done by the end?
Even if it's as simple as "search the first floor of the dungeon", go in with an end point in mind, and then fill in from there!
