#Jacksonville reached 28F (-2.2C). That breaks the daily record of 35F (1.7C) from 1913, 1943, and 1977. It is also the second coldest temperature on record so early in the season. Records go back to September 1871. #flwx

The USDA sent an email to grocery stores telling them they are prohibited from offering special discounts to customers affected by the SNAP funding lapse.
I'm aware of at least 2 stores that had offered struggling customers a discount, then withdrew it after receiving this email

The preliminary value for the global mean temperature for October 25 was 15.03C on ERA-5. That would surpass the daily record of 15.01C from 2024 and tie 2024 for the latest observed 15C or above temperature.

Despite ongoing La Niña conditions, 2025 recorded the second warmest global temperature on record for October 24th. Nothing has come close to the last three years. Overall, October 2024 ranks third warmest.
