Catalytic processes often occur at solid-liquid interfaces, and understanding what's going on there is challenging. To do this, we used OE-DNP NMR. We could also gain a molecular understanding of catalyst leaching process, a common issue in hererogeneous catalysis. @jacs.acspublications.org

This great collaborative work is finally out! Proud to see how the advancement of our understanding of 195Pt NMR signatures enables to describe heterogeneous catalysts in such detail.
Are Single Atom Catalysts (SACs) Single-Sites? Not really according to our latest development in 195Pt ssNMR, now out in @nature.com . Our methodology enables to understand the nature and distribution of the coordination environment of Pt SACs! www.nature.com/articles/s41...
Coordination environments of Pt single-atom catalysts from NMR signatures - Nature
This study presents a nuclear magnetic resonance-based method to determine local structure and bonding of Pt single-atom catalysts.

13C Chemical Shift of N-Heterocyclic Carbenes in Coinage Metal(I) Complexes and Clusters: trans-Influence and Spin–Orbit Coupling
N-Heterocyclic carbenes (NHCs) are versatile ligands in organometallic chemistry, prized for their strong σ-donating and tunable electronic properties. They are used to stabilize a wide range of motif...

This was a lot of fun! A nice example of how an equation can be used to tackle a long-standing problem in chemistry.

γ-Al2O3 is ubiquitous in catalysis. Here we used 1H/27Al NMR cross-signatures (at 1.2 GHz) and DFT modeling to assign surface sites to specific edges and surfaces. Read our work in JACS @pubs.acs.org

Classification and Identification of Facet- and Edge-Specific γ-Al2O3 Surface Sites from 1H/27Al NMR Cross-Signatures and DFT Modeling
γ-Al2O3 is used as both a catalyst and a support for catalytic active phases. The properties of γ-Al2O3 have been ascribed to specific surface sites, with varying Al coordination number, acidity, and ...
