Stella felt largely like we did about James and the Giant Peach, and got kinda sleepy. Season Two finale on this book, book censorship in general, and how the podcast is going is out now! Stay tuned for updates on season three!

There have been a lot of illustrations to go along with James and the Giant Peach over the years, but my favorite by far are the Quentin Blake ones.

Our Season Two finale episode on this book is out on all the podcast places! (At least the ones that are left… they are dropping like flies, sadly.)

We are here! We made it! Our season two finale episode, where we revisit a book we both liked as kids to evaluate how our memories hold up! Should we still be using the giant peach rating system? How does the team feel about the podcast 25 episodes in? Find us on your podcast provider of choice!

Next week is our Season Two finale!
We revisit James and the Giant Peach, talk about the podcast and how it’s been going, and do a think about if we should keep going with the peaches as our rating system.
But that’s next week. For now, check out what I found on YouTube!

Some of the illustrations from the original run of “Meet Samantha.” In the most recent repackage there were no illustrations at all, which I feel was definitely a bad call.
You can catch our discussion on the American Girl Samantha books on Episode 24!

In case you missed it!

Episode Twenty-Four is out this week! We take a trip back to glossy sterilized 1904 with the American Girl Samantha series!

As mentioned in the episode… the covers of this book vary WILDLY with its various editions. The pink dress one is a mess.

This week on my podcast we revisited a series I had mostly forgotten, so I was excited to see how it holds up. Results were pretty mixed ultimately… sterilized history but with a little hint of the reality underneath. We read the Samantha American Girl books over at @dogatemybookreport.bsky.social!

The new and “improved” cover we mention in today’s episode. Why does her neck look broken? Why does it look like a stock photo? Who knows.

Redoing classic book covers almost always seems to be a mistake. Thoughts?

March Schedule!

This week we explore the glossy kid history book “Meet Samantha” and for our season two finale we evaluate a favorite that both of us have read to see how it holds up with “James and the Giant Peach!” (And if we should still be basing our rating system on it! Eep!)

I know her work meant a lot to some of y'all, but it's genuinely long past time to let rowling go. LONG past time.
JKR just donated 70K£ to the fascists group 4women Scotland for their justice fees to have trans women lose all their rights in legal gender marker change on their ID in the UK.

That's almost 82.000€.

Can’t really put my finger on why this grabbed me so much, but I read it repeatedly. Charming narrator, relatable poverty, I dunno, it was cute and hopeful. -Wren
