Well the National Museum was absolutely awesome. Will do a short thread later (promise it will be short). Veggie halloumi wrap at the Hungry Buddha, rain stopped and now I'm to do my favourite thing in a new city - wander around without map getting lost before fitting in another museum 😀

Bouyiourdi (spicy baked Feta) at Metaxa2 -delicious. Great veggie and vegan menu. The two women at the front were such fun when I took photos. I asked if they were OK with SM posting and they were (in perfect English fc). Gave me a shot of something, tasted great, blew my head off. #Athens is a vibe

Spent the afternoon getting my first views of the Acropolis. Such an incredible building - epitomises the birthplace of democracy and so much else.

Well the plan post lunch was to visit the National Archaeological Museum, reputed to be the best Museum in the world (although Cairo may something to say now!). Got there and it closes at 3.40 even for winter early closing that ridiculous 😒 will return tomorrow morning

Greece isn't renowned for it's vegetarian food so it's going to be a challenge 😋 my goal was to see if I could not do seafood- wish me luck. Found a great place for lunch - vegan wrap with haloumi and chips with beer €7.40

I love the flooring in this AirBnB in Athens - it's in the old anarchist/revolutionary quarter of town so a little scruffy but a bit bohemian. Just 10 mins walk to the National Museum and half an hour from The Acropolis - great location
