Scaling Small in der Praxis: Horizontale Zusammenarbeit auf der Grundlage von Open Values und Interoperabilität zur Unterstützung offener Workflows für Open-Access-Bücher
Der Workshop gibt Einblicke in die laufenden Aktivitäten von Open-Access-Hochschulverlagen der AG Universitätsverlage in Kooperation mit der Copim Community zur Einführung offener Publikationsworkflows. Beispielhaft geben Berlin Universities Publishing und der Universitätsverlag Potsdam einen Überblick über bisherige Projektschritte. Die non-profit Infrastrukturen für OA-Bücher Open Book Collective, OAPEN, Opening the Future, und Thoth Open Metadata stellen Kooperationsmöglichkeiten vor. Die beteiligten Verlage setzen auf eine wertegeleitete Kooperation mit gemeinnützigen Infrastrukturen und offenen Standards. Dabei werden Aspekte von Finanzierung und Community-Building (durch das Open Book Collective & Opening the Future), Produktionsworkflows (OMP & OJS via PKP), offener Metadatenverwaltung und -bereitstellung (Thoth), Hosting und Indexing (OAPEN & Thoth), Auffindbarkeit (DOAB & Thoth), Archivierung (CLOCKSS/Portico via OAPEN; Thoth Open Archiving Network) sowie Nutzungsmonitoring von Open-Access-Büchern (OPERAS Metrics) beleuchtet. Im Zentrum steht dabei die Implementierung von open data, offenen Standards sowie interoperablen Diensten. Mit dem durch Copim praktizierten Prinzip des Scaling Small wird somit eine gemeinschaftliche Öffnung hin zu einem robusteren, nachhaltigeren und gerechteren Ökosystem für Open-Access-Bücher möglich. Nach einer einführenden Präsentation der Workflow-Kontexte durch die beteiligten Institutionen laden wir zur offenen Diskussion der verschiedenen Themenbereiche ein, um mehr über die Hintergründe, Bedürfnisse und Empfehlungen der Community zu erfahren. Ziel ist es, die Anwendbarkeit der vorgeschlagenen Arbeitsabläufe auch in anderen nationalen und lokalen Kontexten mit deren entsprechenden Besonderheiten zu prüfen. Anhand verschiedener Thementische, die sich an den Themengruppen der AG Universitätsverlage orientieren und die oben genannten Aspekte – von gemeinschaftlicher Finanzierung bis zur Langzeitarchivierung von OA-Büchern – näher beleuchten, wird Raum für tiefergehenden fachlichen Austausch gemeinsam mit beteiligten Verlagen und Infrastrukturanbietern eröffnet. Nach 20 Minuten wird zum Wechsel zu einem weiteren Thementisch aufgerufen. Die im Workshop gesammelten Ergebnisse werden auch für nationale Unterstützungsstrukturen für Diamond OA von Relevanz sein. Beiträge erfolgen sowohl in englischer als auch in deutscher Sprache.
