An Arcanaloth masquerading as a Microbiologist masquerading as a Lawyer. For now.
Pseudolaw scholarship is expanding at an amazing pace. Here is the first article (that I know of) documenting the Polish variations. Patryk Król uses parallels in language, concepts & objectives to identify Polish pseudolaw groups. That's the Strawman.

Not often that a Canadian judge gets "de-gowned". The Ontario Judicial Counsel has concluded (balance of probabilities) that Ontario Justice Paul Currie committed sexual and physical assault, and inflicted bodily injury.

The summary of decision is here:

I have a legitimate basis to cite the Hanna Barbera Scooby Doo cartoon in a legal academic publication.

I'm not kidding. At all.

This means either my research has careened way off course, or I am following the one true Golden Path.

Was mentioned in Tim Cestnick's Globe and Mail tax advice column as documenting very bad ideas for tax evasion (www.theglobeandmail.com/investing/pe...)

The article he cited is "Organized Pseudolegal Commercial Arguments ["OPCA"] as Magic and Ceremony". I conclude some pseudolaw is irrational. Duh.

Honestly, I enjoy when judges move into cold clinical rage mode. Judge Stephanie Wanke of the Alberta Court of King's Bench issued a short piece sharply criticizing a failure to follow basic service rules in a foreclosure.

I've attached the whole thing. It's worth reading.

Hey, is your faith in the ultimate goodness of humanity in need of a kick in the crotch? Check out this lovely decision: canlii.ca/t/khc20

In short, parents buy home for son. Son refuses to pay anything and destroys home. Son gets evicted.

Son and spouse sue for $792,355.11. Nice!

Interesting but sad report on the killing of a 22-year-old mother of two by a 70-year-old self-identified Freeman-on-the-Land.

Pseudolaw was not an element in the manslaughter proceeding. The killer Losch was represented by a lawyer.

CanLII tracks monthly the most accessed court judgments. For December that is:

a lawyer using ChatGPT
a separating couple disputing custody of 4 cats
a man who appeared in court with a python, his service animal

Enjoy.

Investigation and analysis of pseudolaw is truly an expanding field. Now an academic in Hungary - Nóra Falyuna - is looking at the subject!

Been contemplating how to use large language model "AIs" to further pseudolaw and other abusive litigation schemes:

Gee I hope there are easier solutions for this kind of manipulation and misdirection. Probably not, though.

The Australian Law Journal in September published an issue entirely focused on pseudolaw. There's good stuff here - but warning, everything is paywalled at the moment.

If you have academic/professional access, I recommend taking a look.

Sigh. I am attempting to work up another research project. And I want to properly explain why an Ontario lawyer cited the "Eye of Isis Treaty" as a binding Canadian legal authority.

Attached is the most coherent description I've located for the document.

I know, I know.

I shouldn't react this way.

But when I heard the suspects in the California New Years Eve bomb plot are "The Turtle Island Liberation Front", I just couldn't stop my fiendish cackling.

Wonder if they'll deploy pseudolaw.

In a "Mr. Big" investigation police go undercover and pretend to operate a criminal organization to elicit confessions from a suspect.

These are always colourful, but I've never seen one where the suspect was a Moorish Law adherent. Whattya do as a cop?

Play along!

This one made me laugh out loud.

Appeal to the SCC rejected. Appeal grounds appear to be that that the ABCA judge was biased because of favouritism to the ABKB judge.

Judges are buds to judges. So no appellant can ever get a fair hearing due to judicial bias.

SCC: Nope. (Surprised?)

Sometimes I mourn the passing of technologies.

One example is the great dirigibles of the early 20th century.

I crave being suddenly cast in shadow. A wall of silver flows above and over me. Deep sound washes and strokes like a heavy surf.
