Ex-Boulmer patch birder, now in deepest Lincs.
At least 117 Euro White-fronted Geese fresh in from the continent on Branston Island / Fen, with 6 presumably wild Barnacles with them.

Also 60 Pintail, c500 Teal and c250 Wigeon in the rain and wind...the site's looking very good at the moment.

Connected with the 2 Bardney Fen Glossy Ibis, viewed distantly in flight from the Witham Cycle Track by Branston Island, and inside my #patchbirding area.

Also refound the 9 Tundra Beans on Bardney Pits, with a fab new Goldeneye.

The toughest winter bird race I’ve ever done, with frequent blizzards and treacherous roads - we got rear-ended by a Range Rover and had to limp home to change cars - but excellent company from @yolobirder.bsky.social @dlangstonbirder.bsky.social @shoremark.bsky.social & Sam 🐕.

A good day around Bardney Pits and Branston / Nocton Fens. Highlights 5 Tundra Beans, 3 Euro Whitefronts, 3 Great Egret, Merlin and Woodcock.

Yet to draw up the area, but think it'll be my site for #PWC2026 after a couple of years of moving around.

Nice afternoon at Gib...

First a Pipit in ED found by Kev Wilson before flying north, which we both think is an Olive-backed...flights shots and sonogram below, any thoughts welcome.

Then a dull YBW which played hard to get but eventually called normally.

Decent little seawatch from Huttoft Car Terrace this morning, highlights being a Little Auk N, and 2 Poms (vid) and a Long-tailed Skua south.

A Snow Bunting dropped in, and a SEO in-off, generally very little in volume of birds moving though.

A few days up at Boulmer...outside 2 Marsh Tits, this Velvet-type Scoter was most interesting yesterday aft with @markaeaton.bsky.social

Surf-like, with quite a bit more white around the face and different bill/head profile, though very changeable in pics...

Appreciate any thoughts...

A couple of days midweek spent at Gib Pt in easterlies; not the hoped for scarcity bird-wise, but not bad either, the highlight being potentially a reserve first in a Vagrant Emperor hunting the dunes.

Just a morning left at Falsterbo tomorrow, but some stuff again today, highlighted by Pallid Harrier, Long-tailed Skua and 10 u-turning Nutcrackers.

Some better general raptor passage too, though still far from classic conditions.

Just picked up a 1cy male Pallid Harrier at Falsterbo...finally!

Coal Tits migrating at Falsterbo...

Their excitable flocks were wizzing past at eye-level into a strong head-wind today, then climbing south.
September 12, 2025 at 7:26 PM
The highlight of this morning's watch at Nabben was the first Black Scoter for Falsterbo, picked out by David Erterius coming south.

20 minutes on the side of a cycle path at Falsterbo...a hoped for Black Woodpecker and then an unexpected Nutcracker flew past
September 12, 2025 at 4:01 PM
More quality over quantity again at Falsterbo today: Tawny Pipit, heard only Richard's, 3 Caspian Terns and Lesser Pecker, with supporting Marsh Warbler and Gropper in the reedy fringe. Up to 133 for the trip list with a few days left.
