The ECHR is deeply embedded within the 1998 Belfast/Good Friday Agreement. This commitment does not allow the UK Government to formulate some version of what it regards as ECHR-equivalent protections.

As the UK’s examination by the UN #CESCR begins, it is truly heartening to see a room like this, full of civil society actors and the national human rights institutions engaging with the process. The growing currency of economic and social rights in UK debates is clear.

Mr. Lyons won't meet women's groups and LGBTQI groups, the people behind two social inclusion strategies he has quietly ditched. But he'll meet with these people, who rep organisations keeping their foot on working class communities necks.

My outrage is not faux.
