The handpicked revolution is back. It’s exciting to see people tip people to cool things. Not everything needs to be automated.

The social media landscape right now just feels like middle agents to get traffic to your owned properties. At this point, might be better to build a whole new internet free of corporate control.

Subprime social crisis is in full effect. That Fast Company report on bot farms isn’t anything most clued in folks already knew, but it should open eyes to people who still believe virality is organic on any of these platforms.

Social is undergoing a huge subprime crisis that Gen AI will only make worse.

The creative class has power, but we’re afraid to go build outside the technocratic fiefdoms.

The future of social is

A lot of current leadership doesn’t understand the digital city vs. the analog city.

That’s why they’re losing and will continue to lose.

I keep hearing stories about people who literally would kill for their employer that have been let go like the snap of one’s fingers this past week.

“Your health plan terminates at midnight.”

Keep being in denial. We’re in full on crisis mode.

It’s been interesting watching people defend TikTok and then when told that Elon might buy it want outta there so fast. Everyone should go on a plutocratic free media diet.

The subprime social crisis is now in full effect. The era of 2008-2024 is over but people who peaked in high school can’t give up. The disruptors have been disrupted. The next great online worlds will be deeper, more intimate less pick me boy/girlish popularity contests.

Good.

Big tech is following the same trajectory as major labels back in the day. They had power but they produced crap. The best stuff will come from the small and independent moving forward who don’t need to bend the knee.

Frank Capra’s movies are more relevant now than when he made them. I turned someone on to Mr. Smith Goes To Washington yesterday. And of course It’s a Wonderful Life hits hard. That dream scene? That’s what we’re trying to avoid.

I sense many realize over time a Direct to Customer model is hard and doesn’t work to grow a business. See: Nike, Major League Soccer, etc.

Imagine a management consultancy trying to present something about meta-modernism to their clients. “I don’t get it. It’s not a spreadsheet!”

The last first time I joined a new platform where I sensed a change was in the air was 2008. The platform? Twitter.

Everything is a Remix.
