We the people of the US have so much to celebrate today: my husband (like many others) had a day off, Sinners is now available to stream on HBO Max, Bill Withers (rest in peace) was born 87 yrs ago and if he hadn't been we wouldn't have Lean on Me, Ain't No Sunshine, Lovely Day. (1/12) #4thofJuly

Currently doing a buddy read of The Tainted Cup by Robert Jackson Bennett with my husband...simultaneously upset with myself for waiting so long to pull it off my tbr list and pleased with myself for waiting so long because now we can go right in to book 2. Enjoying it immensely!

Some of you are waiting for a text back from someone who doesn't deserve you, meanwhile my husband just said that if he's ever worried he's getting dementia then he's going to go get my face tattooed on him w/the words "the love of my life, Devyn" so he'll never forget me...don't settle, people. 😭❤️

Finished James by Percival Everett and The Love Hypothesis by Ali Hazelwood last night. Really enjoyed both reads...have read a couple of Hazelwood's other books previously, but was my first book by Everett. I've seen good things about Trees by him as well, so added it to my tbr. #booksky

Just finished The Fire Next Time by James Baldwin and...wow. Quick read (130 pgs) that I would definitely recommend. Published in 1963, 100 years after the Emancipation Proclamation and during the civil rights movement...insightful and, sadly, still relevant today. #booksky

If anyone needs a good non-fiction rec that is really well written but will also likely infuriate you, might I suggest Men Who Hate Women by Laura Bates? Finished it on the 31st and still thinking about it. #booksky
