There’s a real evangelical flavor to how people consume entertainment lately - a need to very conclusively delineate “good” from “bad,” an intolerance for ambiguity, a fervor for punishment (they’re titillated by it)

When I took Twitter off my phone, I was like, “Now I’m going to have more meaningful engagement with my COMMUNITY,” but like, microblogging created in me a need to have every observation I’ve ever made validated on a scale no person can replicate, and you can’t put the toothpaste back in the tube

Sometimes when I get a text, I wish I could tell the person that maybe they should try getting on Twitter/here. Any text where the only conceivable response is maybe an iMessage reaction is really more about getting validation for your thing, it’s not communicating anything of worth

Saw a comment on a nostalgia bait IG Reel blaming “blue state refugees” for the decline of culture in Warrenton, Virginia - not sure how accurate it is to describe people who can’t afford to buy closer to DC in that manner but it must be fun to live in a completely different reality

I feel like the majority of the time that people talk about “good” vs “bad” communication they’re literally just referring to the number of words spoken by one person to another person and “good” just means more words. No reflection on the content or the delivery (an actual communications skill)

People will invite you to an event that completely centers around day drinking, then text you the night before saying they’re not sure they want to drink but they’ll still come for a little bit (to the event THEY invited YOU to), and then be like, “I’m a good communicator,” lmao

I bought these gorg shoes last night. The different-colored flowers remind me of Carrie’s mismatched Manolo moment in LA. Hopefully the platform means they’re not deadly painful! Can’t wait to wear them this summer with tiny cutoff shorts and a baby tee or a lacy, blouse-y, fun-sleeves type of top.

I think it’s dark that “maintenance,” as both a term and a concept, has caught on in the same way that we understand the word “utilities” to mean the bills we pay to keep our homes in order. I don’t think we need to have a line item for looking perfect 24/7, it’s actually not that important!!
