With all the Christmas hullabaloo (not), I forgot to acknowledge a) the one year anniversary of Theo's gotcha day on Christmas Eve, and b) actual Christmas. Blame it on the covid and the cough syrup.

One of my 4th graders was reading "hotel" today and said "hot-el". I asked her to go back and try again, flexing the vowel (changing it from a short sound to a long sound). She then sounded it it as "ho-tel" and said, "Oh, hotel! Like hotel, motel, holiday inn!"
I died laughing.
