Another Wednesday, another New Comic Book Day! This week is relatively light compared to past weeks. So let’s hop in! Staff Pick Tales of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles #1 — Being a child of the 90s, I am predisposed to suggest just about anything TMNT related. So it should be no surprise that this premiere issue based on the new TMNT animated series is the staff pick of the week.

SIKTC! Absolute Catwoman! Absolute Harley! And the start of a showdown between DC heroes!?! It’s a great week to be in this hobby! Staff Pick Something is Killing the Children: A Monster Hunter Walks Into A Bar #1 — This anthology, which was originally published throughout Hello Darkness, is told from the perspective of people Erica Slaughter has rescued. Another great entry in the SIKTC lore that any fan must grab.

Hey! Long time, no see! Two months to be precise! But we should be back on schedule now: Moving sucks, especially when you are used to running a small business primarily on your own. That being said, plenty of you have already met my wife, kids and their friends — without their invaluable help I don’t think the shop would still be afloat.

Relatively slim pickings this week for New Comic Book Day! So if your wallet is aching from buying all those fireworks on the Fourth, you’re in luck. Archie Meets Jay & Silent Bob #1 — This is just a fun crossover, as Archie tends to do! Batman: Gotham By Gaslight — A League for Justice #1 (Sienkiewicz Variant) — It’s Sienkiewicz!

It’s a lighter week than usual — but we have prepping for our Grand Opening weekend to get done, so let’s dive right in. Sisterhood: A Hyde Street Story #1 — Anything from Ghost Machine’s Hyde Street is an immediate favorite. This three-issue spin-off series follows Sister Hood. Gotham City Sirens: Unfit for Orbit #1 (Noobovich Variant) — It was a hard choice between this and Kyuyong Eom’s cover.

James Harren’s Ultramen comes to an end, a Green Arrow character gets their second appearance after 65 years and Deadpool has an anniversary issue — which is also one of the many first appearances this week. Ultramega #9 — The final issue of James Harren’s tour de force. If you haven’t been reading this series, now it the time! Harley Quinn #52 (David Nakayama Variant)

This week is chocked full of new series, new characters and new printings. As well as a surprise 616 day bundle. So let’s hop right in. Battle Beast #2 — The premiere issue of this series was amazing. This issue was one of the blind bag chase variants, so now the rest of us get to get caught up with the few who managed to snag those.

It’s Wednesday! It’s New Comic Book Day! And the first at our new location: inside the Brundage Swap Meet at 2207 Brundage Lane in Bakersfield! First, some quick housekeeping! 1) The first iteration of the shop is complete, now it’s time to settle in and tinker as time passes. We are still figuring out what our hours will be, there is someone working most the time.

OK, between Battle Beast and Exquisite Corpses, last week proved to be a busy one. This week will probably fair a little less hectic. The Curse of Sherlee Johnson #1 — It’s not often a Spawn book makes it way to staff pick. But this series following the afterlife of Billy Kincaid 28th victim ( from Spawn #5) is a great read.

New Comic Book Day snuck up on me this week! So here is a quick rundown. Invincible Universe: Battle Beast #1 Blind Bag — This polybagged variant for the first ongoing series featuring Battle Beast can reveal open order, incentive or surprise variants. Exquisite Corpses #1 (Jenny Frison variant) — It’s a Frison. It’s a first issue. It’s written by James Tynion IV.

A lot of first issues and first appearances for this week’s New Comic Book Day. And the return of a 90s cartoon icon that hasn’t had a comic series since 1992.
