Information Architect/Content Strategist, long-time Technical Writer, DITA XML advocate, and interested in generative AI as applied to structured content.

Recently laid off, so let me know if I can help make your documentation processes more efficient!
The DITAWriter.com website is back up and running. A bad plugin update went very wrong and knocked out the whole site. Currently working on updating the listing of #DITAXML -related conferences, so stay tuned! #StructuredContent

On February 18, I'll present how I converted an old Model T car manual to DITA using Generative AI. I learned a lot about the pros and cons of using an LLM for creating structured content, and I plan to discuss what you can expect and the pitfalls to avoid. Registration info: lnkd.in/e5b-EE9a.

I used Claude.ai to convert a legacy Model T car manual to DITA XML. I found more issues with consistency in coding and style, and learned that it can act as a SME in some cases (not always welcome). But there's no doubt that AI-based conversion is here to stay. www.ditawriter.com/converting-m...

Just finished updating the list of Companies Using DITA: www.ditawriter.com/companies-us.... Mainly a pruning of those firms that have undergone mergers, been bought out, or have otherwise evaporated, but still a solid list of almost 700 firms. #DITAXML #techcomm #techdocs
Companies Using DITA
Update, November 2024: Updating this list of companies using DITA is long overdue. This update essentially prunes the list of the many (132) companies that have either merged or no longer exist sin…

Converting Content and Coding DITA with Claude AI - go.shr.lc/3Cx69Q7 I put @AnthropicAI's Claude.ai to work converting existing content to #DITAXML. While the results were not flawless, they suggest AI in #techcomm is here to stay.
Converting Content and Coding DITA with Claude AI
For several years a key focus of artificial intelligence (AI) as applied to technical documentation has been on using it as a basis for chatbots. I worked for a consulting firm that touted the bene…
