I love me some Robert Sietsema musings, food or otherwise, and can't wait to read this memoir when it is completed and published.

One of the best reflections.

"When an artist leaves, we shouldn’t rush to fill the silence. That silence is holy. It is the sound of legacy taking shape, of impact settling into the bones of a generation. Stillness is where the lessons live."
And Yet, the Soul Remains — Remembering D'Angelo
D'Angelo's music was made for reflection, so this week we'll be spending some time doing exactly that, from 'Brown Sugar' to 'Black Messiah.'

It's insane that these types of respites for taxi and Uber drivers are a relatively new phenomenon.

New Yorkers can add avocado to practically anything, our salads or burrito bowls — for a fee.

Honestly, I don't really know what "Ruby" even is (or I didn't before this article). But, oh boy, the Internet is so complex and corporate-vulnerable on many levels that it's frightening to think of...

An excellent discussion of the mechanics of reissuing lost literary works (not just because I work with most of these individuals).

Dijon's BABY might be the next-level sequel to VOODOO I've been waiting a quarter of a century for. Atonal indie-soul Schoenberg filtered through Bobby Brown.

Probably in line to listen to this shit every day the next seven or so weeks, non-stop.

Righteous.

An incredible panel on the historical framework for the battle for Haiti (which might be one of the most important fights?).

(Locally here in New York it's congestion pricing, which I hope to explain why at some point.)

Had a Haitian Uber driver on the way out of Indy who drove me to the airport. Sweet woman. Ended up telling me she was detained for an entire week back in March over questions about her citizenship. She only had her driver’s license on her at the time.
