Badenoch’s the perfect distillation of a certain class of British Brexiteer wrt NI. They’re the people who ignored all the warnings about the border and then claimed that it was a hitherto unmentioned subject that had been pulled out of a hat at the last minute when it became a live issue.
I love this. The purest essence of Kemi - incredibly wrong, bizarrely belligerent about it, and also wrong in a way where you just go “have you considered reading anything other than your Twitter feed?”
The not-quite-correction is really funny. “A lot” rather than “a majority”.

McGregor didn't even try to get on the ballot. The reason he pretended to "drop out" last night is because the nomination process for actual independent would-be candidates started today and it would have been difficult for him to maintain his charade any longer.

McGregor isn’t genuinely attempting to get on the ballot. At all. He’s performing a charade. Later in the month he’ll claim that the “elites” blocked him, Musk will exclaim “Wow” and a transnational bot network will regurgitate the “Ireland has fallen” mantra.
Part of the thing about MacGregor I that he is playing to the global right online audience, and I don’t know if he is capable of normal political communication that his fellow citizens would recognize. Referring to “our founding fathers” is just deeply weird in an Irish context. Like, who is that?
