Fighting for freedom is an American tradition.
Fighting for freedom is an American tradition. Judy Heumann led the 504 sit-in in 1977 with support from activists like Brad Lomax and the Black Panthers, forcing the U.S. to recognize Disabled rights as civil rights. And the fight continues. Today, July 4th, 2025, the "Big Beautiful Bill" was signed into law-despite protests in D.C. by Disabled Americans as it threatens the care and independence they've fought to protect.
