Shu Qi at the press conference for her first film as a director. It's called Girl (Nühai), and was surprisingly good. Especially, the cinematography by Jing-Pin Yu. #Venezia82 Stay tuned for the review.

I reviewed Lav Diaz's #Magellan, which was screened at the Cannes Film Festival in the Première section. It's shockingly short by Diaz's standards, at a mere 165 minutes.

It Was Just an Accident by Jafar Panahi
I reviewed the Palme d'Or winner It Was Just an Accident by Jafar Panahi. As usual, the @cannesfilmfestival.bsky.social jury picked the wrong film, but it's far from the disasters of the last four years. #Cannes2025

I wrote a review of Alpha, Julia Ducournau's disastrous follow-up to the overrated 2021 Palme d'Or winner, Titane. It made me think that the French Ministry of Culture could use a DOGE department. Seen at @cannesfilmfestival.bsky.social #Cannes2025 #Alpha
