Friend telling me about how he drove to a friends place an hour and a half away two times over one weekend when I've been trying to get him to visit me for months and I am about half the distance away got me feeling a certain kind of way.
Glad he had a good time though!

This thread talks about video games, specifically, but it really hits at the root of the problem with a lot of business decisions across industries. Not only do the people calling the shots not understand the products they're trying to draw profit from, they often aren't even consumers themselves.
A lot of the business failures of the games industry are really rooted in this desire to create a product that dominates the market. The recent Amazon thing really highlights that: they wanted to create a product that outperformed Steam, but they didn't understand Steam or what the audience wanted.

I propose November 1st as resurgence day. Halloween ends, and we all pick up the phones again. MasterCard and Visa, bare minimum, once per day. Every day. All of us. They are only hiring the usual number of holiday workers, this would frighten credit card companies. “It’s not going away”
A source familiar w/ internal workings at MasterCard notes the company does not plan to recruit additional call center workers for the Christmas season, as MasterCard does not expect higher call volume than usual. A resurgence of calls re censorship during the busy season would be huge strategically
